Inflation has compelled multiple countries to re-evaluate their VAT rates. Further to public concerns, many European governments have been forced to re-assess, and ultimately lower, VAT rates on essential products to assist residents.

Spain had believed that the temporary zero VAT on food products would be reversed at the turn of 2024. However, continuing inflation has meant that the temporary zero VAT on specific products will now remain in effect until 30 June 2024.
