Kofax has supported the processing of the Carta Porte, an addition to the legal artefact in Mexico, the CFDI 4.0, which is required in specific circumstances when transporting goods in Mexico, since January 2022.

At the end of September 2023, the Mexican Tax Authorities (SAT) released version 3.0 of the Carta Porte supplement.

The most significant revisions include the addition of the following catalogs:

• RegimenAduanero
• RegistroISTMO
• SectorCOFEPRIS
• FormaFarmaceutica
• CondicionesEspeciales
• TipoMateria
• DocumentoAduanero.

There have also been changes for foreign trade operation fields, including:

• TypeMatter
• DescriptionSubject

In addition, the Pedimento Section was replaced by Customs Document and their respective fields were incorporated to identify the type, number, and Tax ID of the importer.

Crucially, with the 3.0 version, there is a new two-dimensional barcode that will accompany the printed version of the Carta Porte.

The Mexican Tax Authorities, Sistema de Administración Tributaria (SAT) still needs to provide supplementary information in respect of the new Carta Porte version 3.0. Kofax is closely monitoring these changes. We will assess system impact and process any changes to continue successful accommodation of the Carta Porte.
