Carbon emission legislation

Denmark has established an ambitious timeline through which the government endeavours to meet specific environmental goals by 2030.

This framework includes plans to promote the reduction of carbon gases. Such initiatives are aligned with the European Union’s Emission Trading Scheme, which aims to curtail carbon emissions further to specific environmental objectives.

To this effect, the Danish government has now endorsed detailed legislation which sets out plans to decrease carbon emissions.

Denmark’s strategy includes plans for phased implementation, with the project’s conclusion expected in 2030 to align with the country’s environmental objectives.

Related, but separately, Denmark will also introduce a tax on air travel tickets, commencing 1 January 2025, for both domestic and international flights, with limited exceptions, in a further bid to strengthen their commitment to reducing harmful emissions.
